About this program
The chair was established in 1954 to enhance the education of international students. Over time, the academic staff taught Russian language to foreign students, helping them attain higher education. The educational process encompassed all aspects of communication: academic, social-cultural, and daily life. In addition to the course 'Russian as a Foreign Language', specialized courses such as 'Scientific and Technical Translation' and 'Methodology of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language' were also offered. With the passing of the Law 'On Languages in Ukraine' in 1989 and Ukraine's independence, the chair started teaching new subjects: 'Ukrainian Language' and 'Professional Ukrainian Language'. Today, academic staff teach various specialties such as 'Ukrainian Language' and 'Lexicography' to Ukrainian students and 'Professional Ukrainian Language (Ukrainian)' and 'Ukrainian as a Foreign Language' to international students. The chair's teachers are authors of numerous scientific research publications in specialized journals and international scientific databases.
