About this program

The faculty was established in 1966. The first dean of the faculty was Mardon Umarov who served for 25 years until 1991. Currently, the faculty offers three academic specialties (geography, ecology, and hydro-meteorology) for bachelors, four majors (geographical objects, ecology, geophysics, hydrology) for masters. The faculty employs 50 professors, among whom are 9 doctors of science, 12 associates, assistants, and senior lecturers. The faculty has 500 students and 25 master's candidates. The faculty has one computer room, a geology museum, 14 classrooms, and an Uzbekistan-Azerbaijan friendship house. The faculty staff have cooperated with Belgium, Spain, and Italy through TASIS/TEMPUS program in urban planning, architecture institutions in Brussels-Brussels Free University, Milan Polytechnic University, and received the 'El-yurt hurmati' order. The faculty staff conduct fundamental, applied, and innovation research. They have been awarded grants for studies on regional geography, environmental protection, hydro-meteorology, and other topics. Excellent students of the faculty have been selected as state scholarship winners. In 2017-2018 academic year, four graduates of the faculty were granted to study at the Sholimy Kavkaz Federal University in Russia. The faculty staff have also cooperated with foreign organizations such as ECAP.
