Samarqand State University (SamDU) is currently ranked as one of the top 500 universities globally. It hosted a meeting of rectors from O'zbekiston and Japan's leading educational institutions. The university has a new building for the Faculty of Intelligent Science and Advanced Technologies, funded by Hirata Kenji, the Rector of Sukuba University in Japan.
