Established in 1950 as 'Bahyar School', this institution was later renamed 'Mother and Child Higher Education Institute' under the Ministry of Health. In 1971, it became a college known as 'Martyr Bahanar College for Mothers and Children'. In 1986, it was upgraded to a university named 'University of Medical Sciences and Maintenance of Health in Shahr-e Kord'.
