Bahir Dar University was established by merging two former higher education institutions: Bahir Dar Polytechnic and Bahir Dar Teachers’ College. Founded in 1963, the university is privileged to be located at the source of the Blue Nile and shore of Lake Tana. It has been chosen as Centre of Excellence for Teacher Education, Curriculum and Pedagogy.
