About this program

Departing from New York, the tour begins in Warsaw, Poland (3 nights): travelers visit several museums and historic sites such as areas of the Warsaw Ghetto, including the Umschlagplatz; the Jewish Cemetery; Pawiak Prison; and Nozyk synagogue. From Warsaw, the group travels by train to Krakow (2 nights): students study the Jewish Quarter (Kazimierz), synagogues, the ghetto as well as Oskar Schindler's factory and Plaszow forced labor camp. The trip culminates in Oswiecim, the town the Germans called Auschwitz (3 nights), to bear witness to not only Auschwitz I and Auschwitz-Birkenau but also the various sub-camps, including Monowitz.
