About this program

The String Percussion Specialization program allows students to study not only standard string percussion instruments, but also traditional and ethnic instruments. Individual lessons form the basis of the curriculum, with an emphasis on ensemble work to hone technical skills. Historical analysis and structural research deepen knowledge, and ensemble performances allow for practical exploration of a performer's role and expansion of performance capabilities.
