About this program

The European Erasmus program for student exchange was established in 1987. Although its scope and goals have expanded over the years, the main idea remains the same: fostering international cooperation between universities. The name Erasmus refers to the Dutch philosopher and theologian, humanist, Desiderius Erasmus of Rotterdam (1466-1536). Erasmus, like other prominent figures of the Renaissance, studied in many academic centers in various European countries, and his educational views were imbued with deep humanism. Erasmus is a program for cooperation between universities - aimed at students and university staff. In some of its actions, institutions, organizations or businesses that collaborate with universities can also participate. The goal of Erasmus is to enhance the quality of education in European countries through the development of international cooperation between universities and the support of student and university staff mobility.
