Hiroshima City University aims to create and preserve peace, and contributes to the development of regional societies. Established in Hiroshima in 1998, a city that was the first atomic bombing site, it also houses the Hiroshima Peace Research Institute for research on nuclear disarmament and peace creation. This institute conducts studies related to peace such as international politics, international law, and regional governance.

Graduates will be professionals who can analyze modern society's basic analytical methods, understand the history of peace and methods of peace creation, and communicate about peace creation from a global/regional perspective. They will have the ability to contribute to creating and preserving peace or work as international public servants, staff of international NGOs/NPOs, or public servants in national or local governments.
