About this program
In this class, you will engage in a multi-dimensional study of how contemporary Italians make sense of their past and how the past is marketed for tourist consumption. As visitors, we will ‘excavate’ Italy’s past as we travel through Sicily, Naples, and Rome by visiting archaeological sites and museums that interpret the past, by walking through cityscapes shaped by past urban and political configurations, and by eating cuisines that reflect deep histories, migrations, and exchanges.
